Charlie Parker 18th & Vine Tee
Charlie Parker 18th & Vine Tee from Blue Centric. A perfect tee to celebrate the Charlie Parker annual Jazz Festival.
"When Charlie Parker returned to his Kansas City hometown on a hot July week in 1952, he was a big star.
With a saxophone, Parker had become the music pioneer, mentoring practically all of the emerging jazz giants, from Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Thelonious Monk and many others.
The El Capitan was the beating heart of 18th & Vine, placed right on the corner of the famed Jazz District's namesake crossroads, and there was no more fitting place for Parker to make his triumphant return.
A one week engagement quickly became too popular, and so a matinee was added, and then a whole second week.
The legendary residency would prove to be a high water mark between the saxophone legend & the city that raised him; KC would would have precious few chances to experience Charlie Parker's genius again."- Blue Centric
